Application steps

Buildmix Polylastic – 5 steps
  1. Surface sound, clean, free of oil; pre-dampen strongly absorbent substrates.
  2. Pour component A (liquid) into a pail, add component B (powder) gradually, and mix with a slow-speed mixer at 350–450 rpm until homogeneous.
  3. Apply by stiff brush, roller or spray; each coat 1–2 mm thick.
  4. Let the surface dry about 1 hour, then apply the next coat at right angles to the previous.
  5. Moist-cure for 2 days after the final coat.

Frequently asked questions

How many waterproofing coats for a bathroom or balcony, and how many kg/m²?

Per VNA's standard detail drawings: Buildmix Polylastic in 2 coats, 1.6 kg/m² in total. At wall bases and around pipe penetrations, one extra coat with reinforcing mesh at 0.8 kg/m².

How are pipe penetrations treated?

The standard drawings call for packing around the pipe with Buildmix Grout non-shrink grout, sealing the joint with PU sealant, then applying a waterproofing coat with reinforcing mesh around the penetration.

Cementitious or polyurethane for bathrooms?

Both are available for wet areas. Buildmix Polylastic and Keshun Aquaflex KS-988A are two-component polymer-cementitious materials applied by brush or roller. Keshun Aquacoat KS-929C is a single-component polyurethane membrane; its data sheet lists kitchens, bathrooms and balconies among its uses.
